Tucson Trip

Sunday, August 24, 2008

Last Friday I went to work, assuming it would be a normal day of emails and endless work projects. But midway through the day, Julie called and invited me to come to Tucson for Sunday dinner. So since Mom is in Washington with Gary and Kristen's family, I thought that was an offer too good pass up, so here I am. I told her that if I was going to buy an airline ticket and fly all the way to Tucson for Sunday dinner, it has better be a mighty good dinner.

Actually, what happened is that Julie said Matthew was just called to serve as second counselor in the new bishopric of the Casas Adobes Ward, Tucson Stake. So yesterday I flew down here to Tucson, and today it was out with the old and in with the new. After sacrament meeting, the new bishopric was appropriately ordained and set apart, with me having the awesome privilege of ordaining Matthew a high priest. Right after that he went and conducted priesthood meeting, so he's already busy in his new calling. How nice to be here for this special event.

This afternoon I'm playing with Bridget and watching as she pulls everything off the shelves and does other wrecking-crew projects around the house. She thinks that anything that is on a shelf should come off and that anything that's in a box should come out. What a little cutie she is.

Tomorrow I'll go back home and then on Wednesday I'll fly up to Washington to join Mom and Gary's family for the next few days. This weekend Nathan will be baptized and little Annabelle with be blessed. These are such wonderful family times.
